Sebastian Raschka

Sebastian Raschka is a large language model research engineer whose public biography spans academic and industry work. He has worked as a statistics professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a senior engineer at Lightning AI, and is the author of Build a Large Language Model (From Scratch).

His work combines code-based explanations, research analysis, books, and Ahead of AI, his publication on machine learning and artificial intelligence. The emphasis is on unpacking how methods work, giving readers something more durable than a list of new model names.

A developer or student can start with the from-scratch materials to understand model components, then use his articles to connect those fundamentals with current research. The linked code and exercises make the material useful for active learning: change a component, inspect the result, and compare it with the explanation.

Radar follows Raschka for that combination of teaching and technical depth. His work helps distinguish a promising research idea from the practical steps needed to implement it. The publication, source code, and video channel provide complementary ways to keep up as methods change.
